Though just thirty years old, Anna is famous for a number of roles that she has done on television. This Australian actress was born to Susan and Hans Torv in Melbourne. But then she moved to Sydney and spent most of her teen years on the Gold Coast. Anna always wanted to be an actress and that is why she joined Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Art in 2001, from where she graduated. Anna has also worked with the Bell Shakespeare Company. While with them, she debuted with a lead female role in the theatre production of The Credeaux Canvas.

Soon afterwards, the actress got lucky with television, where she managed to grab the role on ‘Young Lions’ in 2002. In ‘Young Lions’ she worked opposite Alex Dimitratis and Alexandra Davis. After her first television role, she was offered a movie ‘Travelling Light’, which she gladly accepted. All this time she was working for both television and theater. Apart from that, she was seen on television series like ‘The Secret Life of Us’ where she played the role of Nikki, and BBC drama Mistresses, where she played a lesbian, who had an affair.

In the year 2008, Anna entered US television, where she was selected for the role of FBI agent Olivia Dunham in the FOX drama Fringe. In the series she plays an agent who is assigned to investigate the spread of unexplained phenomena and work with Dr. Walter Bishop after her partner, John Scott, is exposed to a flesh-dissolving agent.

Besides this, Anna is also very famous for her role as the voice, motion capture performer, and face of the main character Nariko in the Playstation 3 game ‘Heavenly Sword’.

Coming down to her personal life, the very famous writer Anna Maria Torv is her paternal aunt. Anna has been estranged from her father since the time she was eight years old. The actress married her Fringe co-star Mark Valley in 2008.
