The first season of Fringe started on 9th September 2008. In the first episode, Special FBI Agent, Olivia Dunham and her team are called in to investigate the mysterious death of the passengers and crew of a flight, with the flesh of everyone onboard the flight liquefied. During the investigation, her lover and colleague, Agent John Scott is contaminated by a similar chemical that crystallizes his skin and Olivia enlists the help of an institutionalized fringe researcher, Dr. Walter Bishop and his estranged son, Peter to help her save John. The investigations reveal the mass infection to be an experiment, and part of a larger mystery called The Pattern as well as the fact of John Scott being involved in the mystery. Olivia, Peter and Walter investigate the death of a woman, who dies after getting pregnant, and delivering a fully developed baby within a span of a few hours. The newborn is even stranger as he ages eighty years in the span of a few minutes. The investigations lead to a serial killer, who used to extract the pituitary glands from his victims, and now uses the same to keep the newborn aged man young.

While investigating the claims of Roy Comb about having visions of Pattern-related terror attacks before they actually occur, the team led by Dr. Bishop comes to learn that the visions are a result of the Ghost Network that the masterminds use for communicating, as the frequency range is generally undetectable. The team, unaware of other people including the Observer also being interested, investigates a mysterious cylinder which inspite of being at the center of a deadly explosion remained unharmed But Dr. Walter goes against the wishes of the team and hides the cylinder to repay the debt of the Observer who saved the lives of Dr. Walter and Peter long ago.[Read More..]
